About the Book

Biodiversity is the variety of all species on earth. Biodiversity is both essential for our existence and intrinsically valuable in its own right. However, in recent years’ biodiversity which is crucial for the well being of life on earth, is coming under the threat due to human activities. The years from 2011 to 2020 has been declared as the "United Nations Decade on Biodiversity" by the United Nations.

Students of Biotechnology are required to learn about Biodiversity and Semantics and the Conservation of Biodiversity which is very crucial aspect as of now as the same is threatened due to excess human intervention and exploitation.

This book is very concise and to the point however spells out a lot on Biodiversity and Systematics. Students will find that the subject has been presented in a very student friendly format thereby getting them acquainted with the subject and creating a desire to learn more.

This Text book is compiled for students of T.Y. BSc –Biotechnology, Sem III, however students, pursuing Botany and other .life sciences can benefit from the contents of this book.

Dr. Hema Sane, well known Botanist and academician has ensured that the book covers all relevant topics. She has included diagrams, charts and graphs to explain concepts better. Exercise and past University questions have been included in the end of each chapter to ensure students get acquainted with questions that are likely to be asked during exams.
