    About the Book

    The book comprises of nine chapters of which the first five chapters deal with plant systematic and the remaining four chapters pertain to plant ecology. Taxonomy / Systematics are concerned with classification of plants, division of the plant kingdom into smaller and smaller groups in a systematic manner and naming of the plants for identification, fundamentals of plant systematics are explained. Plant ecology studies the distribution and abundance of plants, the effects of environmental factors and the interactions among and between plants and other organisms, i.e. inter relationship of living and non living components in the nature.

    This Text Book is according to the new revised syllabus of Pune University, for SY.B.Sc. Botany, Sem I, Paper 1.

    Important Terminologies and their meaning are given in simple language.  Well labeled neat diagrams are given for easy understanding of the plant families and the ecological groups. All topics are written in simplified and systematic manner with good illustrations to facilitate the understanding of the students.
