Savita S. Rahangdale

Savita Sanjaykumar Rahangdale has done M.Sc. (Botany) with Taxonomy as special subject with Dr. V. D. Vartak Prize from Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune and Ph.D. from Agharkar Research Institute, Pune. She is Assistant Professor in Botany at DGM's Hon. Balasaheb Jadhav College, Ale, since 1999 and also recognized research guide of SPPU, Pune. She has described one new species and one new variety to the world and reported two genera & four species as addition to flora of Maharashtra state. She has completed three research projects funded by RGSTC, SPPU, Pune and Department of Forests, Govt. of Maharashtra. She has published 26 research papers in the scientific research journals of international repute. She has written Five text books for B.Sc. students as per syllabi of SPPU, Pune. She is associated with the Department of Forests since the year 2000 as Honorary Botanist for documentation and conservation of biodiversity and ecosystems. Honoured with 'Mukta Sanman' (2018) of News 18 Lokmat at the auspices of Miss Pankaja Mundhe, Hon. Minister Mahaila & Bal Kalyan, Govt of Maharashtra, for her outstanding work for Biodiversity Conservation; 'Phule Dampatya Sanman' and 'Samaj Prerana Puraskar' for the work in biodiversity conservation and education. She is Fellow of Indian Association for Angiosperm Taxonomy (IAAT) and Fellow of Association for Advancement of Biodiversity Science (AABS) and life member of other scientific associations. She is Expert Scientists for ENVIS Biodiversity Portal - www.bsienvis.nic.in
