Sanjaykumar Ramlal Rahangdale has done M.Sc. (Botany) with Cyto-Genetics as special subject with Gold Medal from Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur and Ph.D. from Agharkar Research Institute, Pune under Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune.

He has 15 years' experience of teaching at UG and PG level and also a recognized research guide of SPPU, Pune. He has described one new species and one new variety to the world and reported two genera & four species as addition to the flora of Maharashtra state. He has completed three research projects funded by UGC New Delhi, SPPU, Pune and the Department of Forests, Govt. of Maharashtra.

He has published 25 research papers in scientific research journals of international repute. He is co-author of Five text books for B.Sc. as per syllabi of SPPU, Pune. He is associated with the Department of forests since 2005 as Honorary Botanist for the documentation and conservation of biodiversity and ecosystems. He was member of Eco-sensitive Zone committee for Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary. He is life member of different scientific associations including ISGPB, New Delhi; IAAT Calicut; ISE, Lucknow; IAPT, Dehradun.

He has extensively surveyed the forests of Maharashtra state and delivered several invited talks. Awarded with 'Prof. M. Sabu Award' of Indian Association of Angiosperm Taxonomy for the best research paper; 'Phule Dampatya Sanman' and 'Samaj Prerana Puraskar' for the work in biodiversity conservation and education. He is Expert taxonomist for ENVIS Biodiversity Portal - www.bsienvis.nic.in
