Savita Sanjaykumar Rahangdale has done an M.Sc. (Botany) with Taxonomy as a special subject with Dr. V. D. Vartak Prize from Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune and Ph.D. from Agharkar Research Institute, Pune. She is an Assistant Professor in Botany at DGM's Hon. Balasaheb Jadhav College, Ale, since 1999 and also a recognized research guide of SPPU, Pune.

She has described one new species and one new variety to the world and reported two genera & four species as addition to the flora of Maharashtra state. She has completed three research projects funded by RGSTC, SPPU, Pune, and the Department of Forests, Govt. of Maharashtra. She has published 26 research papers in scientific research journals of international repute. She has written Five textbooks for B.Sc. students as per the syllabi of SPPU, Pune. She is associated with the Department of Forests since the year 2000 as an Honorary Botanist for the documentation and conservation of biodiversity and ecosystems.

Honoured with 'Mukta Sanman' (2018) of News 18 Lokmat at the auspices of Miss Pankaja Mundhe, Hon. Minister Mahaila & Bal Kalyan, Govt of Maharashtra, for her outstanding work for Biodiversity Conservation; 'Phule Dampatya Sanman' and 'Samaj Prerana Puraskar' for the work in biodiversity conservation and education. She is a Fellow of the Indian Association for Angiosperm Taxonomy (IAAT) and Fellow of Association for Advancement of Biodiversity Science (AABS) and life member of other scientific associations.
